Quality Assurance Policy

The operation of the laboratory as a whole is based upon the strict adherence to the Quality Assurance System procedures. Therefore, the entirety of the staff that has any influence on the quality of operation is aware of this reality and extensively trained on applying the procedures that are relevant to each post. The Department Administration sets the quality goals to be achieved, monitors the process leading to their fulfillment, continually reviews the Quality Policy to ensure its relevancy and at the same time makes sure that all the staff shares and owns the goals that the Quality Policy sets for our operation. The Laboratory Administration has set quality goals to monitor and assess the performance during the entirety of the critical steps undertaken in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes. The quality goals monitoring process is designed in a way that includes the laying – out of the indicators, the methodology, the interpretation, limits, action plan and measurement duration. The quality goals are quantifiable, categorized in quality indicators relevant to the quality policy and are regularly reviewed to ensure that they remain appropriate. The goals of the laboratory include:

  • Rate of evaluated non-conformities.
  • Rate of realizable suggestions for improvement.
  • Rate of repeatability for the histological, cytological, immunohistochemical and molecular examinations as part of the internal quality control that the laboratory conducts.
  • Rate of success – results agreement as part of the interlaboratory programs run during the external quality control programs in which the laboratory takes part.
  • Statistical parameters of comparison for the cytological-histological diagnoses: Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive Predictive Value, Negative Predictive Value.
  • Rate of approval both by the doctors and the patients of the laboratory.
  • Adherence to the training program that has been set for the staff and continuous retraining for said staff with participation in scientific seminars, conferences, and classes both domestic as well as international.
  • Rate of occurrence for dangers – undesirable events
  • Turn-around time for the cytological and molecular examinations of the laboratory

The Administration of the Department understands that quality is first and foremost its responsibility and as such moves forward with any action only after making sure that said action is going to be promoting the quality of service offered by our laboratory. In support of the System’s operation, the Laboratory Administration in turn, is committed in continually backing, encouraging and empowering the scientific development, the availability of impeccable infrastructure as well as the provision of highly skilled personnel, offering every available means in order to constantly improve the quality of the services provided by the laboratory “Microdiagnostics I.D.Hatzibougias Ltd”
