Green Policy

Microdiagnostiki takes a number of measures stemming from the Green Policy it enacts as one of the aspects of corporate responsibility in which it believes, in order to ensure the protection both of the environment as well as its own employees. Some indicative actions include:

• The formaldehyde used by the laboratory is collected daily in special plastic containers for disposal instead of being dumped to the drainage and thus polluting the city’s water supply systems.
• Instead of ethyl alcohol and xylol for the treatment of samples we use substitute materials (liquids) that don’t burden the environment with harmful odors.
• All surgical byproducts and waist get destroyed on site using specialized machinery -an autoclave- that the laboratory possesses.
• The entirety of fluids and tissues that need disposal gets collected by a specialized biohazard collection and management service instead of simply being dumped in waste bins.
• The transportation of samples from the various medical centers to “Microdiagnostiki” is performed by a courier service that specializes in the transportation of biological samples. The contractor possesses a system for the continuous (real-time) tracking of the packages. Additionally, each vehicle is equipped with GPS and a climate-controlled compartment that allows for constant temperature to be sustained for large periods of time. Finally, a quadruple, certified packaging system is being used (container, absorbent material, transportation bag, transportation cylinder), allowing for the secure transportation of the samples.
