I Choose

PulmonArray Basic

With PulmonArray Basic we focus on the 4 genes and 1 protein that statistically show more often genetic instability in lung cancer.

The panel consists of EGFR, ALK, ROS1, BRAF, PD-L1.

Consult your Oncologist in order to get the best possible choice for you and personalized treatment. There is the possibility of further personalization of the exams

PulmonArray Broad

With PulmonArray Broad, apart from the aforementioned 5 genes and Basic’s proteins, an additional 19 genes are added to the panel to test for the presence of mutations, providing an even more detailed and extensive molecular profile of lung cancer.

The number and type of mutations that are examined are being informed through a dynamic process, according to current scientific research. It should, therefore, be recognized that there is a possibility that the list of genes in the order form may have changed (genes added or removed) while analyzing the sample in the laboratory.

By analyzing multiple genes and proteins simultaneously, this test offers a detailed molecular profile of lung cancer, based on which your clinician (oncologist) will choose the best treatment for you individually.

Non-small cell lung cancer may carry mutations in the EGFR, BRAF, MET, HER2 genes, mutations in the ALK and ROS1 genes, or show overexpression/low expression in the PD-L1 biomarker protein. Special treatments are available for these mutations and protein complexes. This way, the proliferation of cancer cells is limited or the body’s most effective immune, defense response to cancer is ensured.

The tests are performed on the biopsy material or FNAB, EBUS (paraffin block or cell block) that your histological or cytological examination was performed.

At our vertically integrated Laboratory, we handle your sample in such way as to minimize its unnecessary waste:

The paraffin block is placed once, if it is possible, in the microtome to obtain tissue incisions by experienced histotechnologists.
Tissue sections are sequentially acquired in such a way as to provide immunohistochemistry diagnosis, if required.
Ensure maintenance of tissue sections for further molecular testing.
Pathologists perform microdissection, in order to ensure the highest possible amount of cancer cells, removing all other necrotic cells or normal tissue that could affect the validity of the results.
Directly, the molecular biologist treats the tissue in a completely controlled environment with next-generation sequencing (NGS), or polymerase chain reaction of real-time (Real-time PCR) for the detection of mutations in genes of interest, or by immunohistochemistry method (IHC) on a certified platform.

If a person is diagnosed with lung cancer, a treatment plan can be developed based on the type of lung cancer from which he or she is ill, the stage of cancer, and the general health of the patient. Such treatments include chemotherapy, targeted therapy (gene mutations), immunotherapy (targeting protein complexes), and may include a combination of surgery or radiotherapy.
